Competition Classes

FIRST AND FOREMOST- WE ARE A TEAM! THE ONLY STARS DANCE PERFECT TEACHERS ENJOY ARE THOSE WE SEE LOOKING UP INTO THE BEAUTIFUL, NIGHT SKY.

Please remember, COMPETING IS AN HONOR. Students must perform in all chosen competitions or they cannot compete, unless arrangements have been made with the DIRECTOR. We will not be scheduling any group numbers until Dance Perfect teachers and director have taken the time to evaluate each student’s progress and how well they work together as a team.

Placement in Competition Classes

Placements made into competition classes are final. This is where your trust in us comes in. A student may not be fully prepared to move to the next level of dance. They may need to work harder or improve technical skills. Students who miss class frequently will not be placed in competition classes. Remember- each student is given the same level of skills and training, but what they do with those skills is up to each individual student. Students should remember that rehearsal does not end when they leave the studio! We do not expect perfection, we expect improvement. Students need to show improvement on a weekly basis. When student are given the same corrections week after week, it is obvious that the student is not practicing. These are competition classes and the students must work up to the challenge. But remember, each child needs to develop at his/her own pace. Each development is rewarding experience. It is important to focus on your child’s own development, not with other students.

Most importantly parents, we try to promote a positive learning environment. But gossip and non-truths affect our company and their ability to perform. Gossip will not be tolerated.

It is important for each parent/guardian to understand that competition classes are choreographed to a maximum dance level. At times we move students’ places for the benefit of the group’s choreography. It should not come down to, “why wasn’t my child given that part”? This is not about solo performances, this is a group effort. The teachers/director gives each student the same instruction, we ask student to demonstrate and prove they are trying each step to the best of their ability; however many times students show they are learning and improving to keep their spot in competition numbers.
