Belly DancingEnjoy the experience of learning to belly dance while having fun! Learn the sensuous and beautiful movements of this ancient art form while building strength and flexibility! Classes are designed to be clear and easy to follow, yet challenging, in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Movements and steps are broken down systematically, always stressing strong core posture, safe techniques and graceful movement. Learn belly dance basics while getting a full body workout. Focus on simplicity and building strength and articulation throughout the midsection and hips. Master basic steps, shimmies, body undulations, hip work articulation, isolations, hand/arm techniques. Explore the use of veils and finger cymbals. ![]() Wear comfortable clothes. Leggings, tights, or yoga/stretch pants and a fitted tee-shirt, tank top, or leotard are excellent. Bare feet are recommended, although non-slip socks or dance slippers are fine. Please bring a scarf to tie around your hips. Note: All student levels will be given the opportunity to join in group performances and dance for a live audience. BeginnerThe beginner class is designed to learn the fundamentals of proper dance technique, basic moves such as head slide, upper body movements, hand and arm movements, basic hip movements, and shimmies. Cover choreography includes traveling steps, easy routines and dance combinations and drills. Basic veil work and zills will be taught. Also covered are the different dance styles such as Egyptian, IntermediateThe main focus will be on drills, zill work, and floor work. Learn how to keep the slow movements slow and to dance with feeling. Concentration will be place on executing sharp movements with precision. Learn more complex choreography. Explore the layering of movements and how to make them flow from one to the next. AdvancedIn the advanced class students will learn to perfect their technique. Students will spend time on building their own individual dance style. Time will be spent on the Focus on transitions, music interpretation and performance skills. Learn improvisation, how to incorporate props such as a cane or sword, and so much more. Costuming Workshop - Open to all levelsDATE TO BE ANNOUNCED Learn how to make a costume to perform in. Learn how to create a bra and belt set without the use of a sewing machine. Create a skirt with matching veil. Discover the art of beading! Find out where and how to buy of fabrics and beads. |
